JFK T8’s “A Traveling Dream” – Eduardo Anievas

Meet NY-based artist Eduardo Anievas of the JFK T8 Artist Showcase. Eduardo’s medium of choice is oil on canvas.

Originally from Santander, Spain, Eduardo Anievas began his life as a painter in Passau, Germany. Shortly after traveling through Portugal, China, and Tibet, Anievas moved to New York City.

“When I first came to NYC in 1999, I remember the overwhelming feeling—I am not a foreigner, I belong here,” said Anievas. “We all do.”

Anievas’ versatile paintings approach different subjects: figure, cityscape, landscape, abstractions, still life, and portraiture. His work has been displayed globally in galleries, cultural centers, restaurants, nightclubs, on the streets of Manhattan, and in his Open Studio Series in Long Island City, Queens. “The common denominator is the background, and our context, the City. It’s our joint thoughts and emotions that construct our context, which we all are—community. The cityscapes are the buildings around us entangled with traffic and lights,” said Anievas about his oil paintings.

Anievas' work is part of the T8 Artist Showcase, “A Traveling Dream,” presented by URW, American Airlines, and The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. In curation with Queens-based curator Vaughn Bentley Creative, four local artists were chosen for the showcase first installment—highlighting artistic expressions of what it means to be a New Yorker.

Traveling customers can view the T8 Artist Showcase installation from May 22 through August 2024. Follow us on Instagram (@jfkterminal8) to keep up with all the happenings as we transform JFK Terminal 8.
