URW seeks community artists for Seasonal Artist Showcase

We are excited to announce the Seasonal Artist Showcase at JFK T8. URW is committed to partnering with diverse businesses and reinventing travel experiences. To kick off our new community program, URW hosted an Artist Info Session on Jan. 4 at Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning (JCAL). This event was for artists interested in learning more about the showcase.

Calling Community Artists

To celebrate the depth and vibrancy of Jamaica and Greater Queens, URW is opening JFK T8 to the community. We are seeking the authentic art of the local communities we serve; through art that speaks to both locals and international travelers—reminding them of the energetic city that is, New York City. We want the airport to feel like home, and who better make that happen than you?

Selected artists will receive an individual stipend to produce their work in a curated exhibit to be printed and displayed in the terminal.  Three artists will be selected to have their original artwork reproduced in large scale. Work will be placed on large temporary walls (approximately 175’ L x 8’ H) along the corridor in the terminal. The showcase will be running for a period of approximately three months.

  • The selected artists will each receive a stipend.

  • NYC-based artists are encouraged to apply

  • Artists must be 18 yrs or older

  • Submission must be Artist’s original work

  • One submission/series per applicant

  • Multiple applications per Artist will not be accepted

  • The selected Artists will be required to sign an agreement stating the artwork accepted is their original work
